I’m going to try and do weekend roundups for everyone. I’ll do my best to keep up weekly. As you may know, having two kids takes up most of the day. Enjoy!
The Flyers get the win 2-1 against the Sabres on Sunday. Matt Read gets the first goal in the first period at 3:19. The second goal was by Michael Raffl at 12:45 in the third period. The Flyers are 23-22-10, 5th in Metropolitan Division.
According to The Boston Globe, The Boston Red Sox made an offer for Cole Hamels.
1. Cole Hamels, LHP, Phillies — General manager Ruben Amaro said last week that four teams had made offers for Hamels. One of them, according to a major league source, was the Red Sox. But what we’ve been able to piece together through various sources is that the package Boston offered was heavy on the major league side, trying to avoid giving up any of their top prospects. Suffice it to say, that won’t get you Hamels. The Phillies are insistent on prospects, and if they don’t get them now they’ll wait until the trade deadline when there might be more desperation by teams seeking to win.
The epic Riley Cooper calender controversy. The Eagles released this following statement: “We do not oversee the production of the annual team calendar,” the Eagles said in a statement. “We do not provide any input about the players who are featured or where those pictures appear in the calendar. The NFL licenses the production of that calendar to a third party and we do not have an opportunity to review the material.”

Julius Erving said he thinks the mascots are why the dunk contest lost popularity, according to a report from ESPN’s Darren Rovell.
From the Report:
“The mascots messed it up,” Erving said, referring to the stunts pulled during regular-season games as part of crowd entertainment. “It was great seeing regular human beings, even though they were 6-foot-6, 250 pounds, running and dunking a basketball. When mascots started doing it with all the trampolines and all the crazy stuff and falling on the floor, then it became more like the X Games. The players can’t live up to that.”
