Chip Kelly Predictions for 2016

The NFL season ended a few weeks ago, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t have predictions for 2016. USA Today decided to go with “Colin Kaepernick will figure things out under Chip Kelly in 2016”. Here is their prediction:

This is prediction is completely based on the magic Chip Kelly has worked with quarterbacks. And he’s never had one nearly as talented as Kaepernick. Kelly got career years out of Nick Foles, Mark Sanchez and Sam Bradford, and none of those guys even really fit his scheme. Kaepernick will allow Kelly to unleash the full power of his offense. Defenses will have to respect the read option looks that they have been able to ignore over the least three seasons with slow footed quarterbacks running Kelly’s offense.

Also, it hasn’t been too hard making the Pro Bowl as a quarterback these last few seasons. Andy Dalton made the 2014 squad throwing 17 interceptions. Teddy Bridgewater made it in 2015 with just 14 passing touchdowns.

During an interview with ESPN, Trent Dilfer said “I think under Chip you’ll start seeing some of these younger guys that have a boatload of talent start surfacing a little more. . .having a greater impact than they have in the past.”

“The great thing about Chip is he gets everybody leaning in the same direction, he’s done it everywhere he’s ever coached. He gets a bunch of people that really don’t know what direction they’re facing and he gets ‘em all facing the same direction, he’s really good at that.

“I think that alone, now you’ll start seeing the talent level of guys come out. The hardest thing for me to watch with the Niners (last season) was. . .I really like some of their players, but I didn’t like the way they were playing. . .

“I think under Chip you’ll start seeing some of these younger guys that have a boatload of talent start surfacing a little more. . .having a greater impact than they have in the past.”

Here is something less amusing by an ESPN writer’s prediction:

Colin Kaepernick undergoes a career rebirth under new coach Chip Kelly, earning NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors and guiding the surprising 49ers to their first championship in 22 years. Free-agent acquisition Alshon Jeffery and rookie Laquon Treadwell, already established as one of the league’s top receiving duos, gash the Patriots for 252 yards and three touchdowns.Carlos Hyde, back from a 2015 foot injury, bruises his way to 110 rushing yards as the 49ers wear out New England’s defense with pace and muscle. Tom Bradyconnects with Rob Gronkowski for two touchdowns, but the Patriots fall just short. Delirious 49ers players dump a cooler of power smoothies over Kelly as time expires. Gronk and New England coach Bill Belichick are fined $25,000 each for missing the postgame news conference, which they skip in order to catch a Cancun-bound party cruise.

Huffpost Sports released this story on “Here’s Why The Chip Kelly Hire Won’t Work For The 49ers” Here is what they said about Chip:

The problem is, Kelly isn’t likely to be a savior to the storied 49ers franchise because he is not a championship coach. During a disastrous 7-9 campaign this season, the Eagles’ offense ranked just 12th in yards, a measly 13th in scoring and 30th in total defense. Kelly’s supporters point to consecutive 10-win seasons during the two previous years, but the numbers weren’t all that great then either, and the lack of postseason accomplishments speaks for itself.

Chip Kelly started his NFL career as Eagles head coach in 2013. He lead the Eagles to one playoff game in 2013 and they lost. Chip’s record as NFL head coach for the Eagles ended with 10-6, 10-6, and 6-9 for three seasons. The 49ners currently have young talent and can be better with good coaching. The question is, can Chip keep the locker room together?

The Eagles make the list of NFL’s most talented teams

As reported by NFL Media Analysis Bucky Brooks, The Eagles are among NFL’s most talented teams.

9) Philadelphia Eagles

Blue chips (7): OLB Connor Barwin, DE Fletcher Cox, RT Lane Johnson, C Jason Kelce, OG Evan Mathis, RB DeMarco Murray, LT Jason Peters.

On the rise: LB Kiko Alonso, CB Byron Maxwell, K Cody Parkey.

Chip Kelly has ruffled some feathers with his bold personnel moves, but skeptics can’t question the depth of talent on the Eagles’ roster. The offense will place the NFL’s reigning rushing king (Murray) behind one of the most talented O-lines in football. The melding of a one-cut runner and a group of blue-chip blockers (Peters, Mathis, Kelce and Johnson — who’s still a bit raw, but I’m willing to bet on his athleticism and potential) should produce fireworks in the Eagles’ zone-read system. On defense, Cox and Barwin are disruptive playmakers capable of wreaking havoc at the point of attack. Their ability to create pressure could allow Maxwell to flourish as a CB1 in a new defense. And if Alonso can get back to his rookie form after a season lost to injury, Philly fans will quickly learn to love the athletic linebacker. Parkey led the NFC in scoring as a rookie.

“On the rise” – Your short breakdown:

LB Kiko Alonso – Drafted on April 26, 2013 by the Buffalo Bills in the second round (46th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. Alonso signed a four-year contract on May 13, 2013. On March 10, 2015, the Bills traded Alonso to the Eagles for LeSean McCoy.

CB Bryon Maxwell – 173rd overall pick in the 6th round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. In 2014, Maxwell played in 13 games, missing three weeks with a strained calf. He had 39 tackles, 2 interceptions, 12 passes defended. In Super Bowl XLIX, Maxwell had 5 tackles, but the Seahawks lost 28-24 to the Patriots-GASP! On March 14, 2015, Maxwell signed a six-year, $63 million contract with the Eagles.

K Cody Parkey – Undrafted in 2014 draft. Parkey signed with the Colts in 2014. On August 20, 2014, He was traded to the Eagles for David Fluellen. Parkey recorded 32 FGM/36 FGA – 88.9% last season.

NFL Mock Draft Sends McCoy to Raiders and Two First Round Picks for Mariota?

As reported by Pat Kirwan of CBS Sports, his NFL mock draft sends Lesean McCoy to the Raiders and two first round draft picks for Marcus Mariota.

4. Philadelphia Eagles — Oregon QB Marcus Mariota: The Eagles come up for Marcus Mariota and send their first-round pick this year and next year plus RB LeSean McCoy to the Raiders. McCoy has three years left on his contract and the Raiders have plenty of cap space to absorb the contract. If the Eagles have to throw in another player or later round pick to close the deal they should do it. Maybe they recoup some of the compensation by trading Nick Foles. Cleveland and the Jets should be interested in Foles.

The thought of moving up in the draft would be a great idea. I’m not sure trading McCoy along with two first round draft picks for Mariota is a good idea. Nick Foles is 14-4 as a starter under Chip Kelly. Do you want to wait for the next couple of years to see what Mariota can do? In my opinion, the Eagles would be a 3-13 team without Foles.

Eagles: Nate Allen cleared of all charges involving 16 year old

As reported by Jamie Apody of 6 ABC, the Eagles safety Nate Allen is cleared of all charges after being accused of exposing himself to a 16 year in Fort Myers, Florida.

Daniel Tosh: Bill Belichick’s Patriots will be remembered by cheating

Daniel Tosh is a comedian with Comedy Central. Tosh came out swinging at Bill Belichick and his New England Patriots during his season premiere of Tosh.0.

How will Bill Belichick be remembered?

“Belichick’s Patriots will be remembered by the Tuck Rule, Spygate, and DeflateGate,” Tosh said.

What about the Tom Brady?

“Tom Brady had one good year of lobbing it up to Randy Moss, and every other season he’s been a game manager,” Tosh said.

RG3 is not listed as key player in a letter to club members

The Washington Redskins issued a letter to their club members regarding four key players for next season. You will notice that RG3 is not one of them.

“Dear Premium Club Member,” reads this letter from the Redskins.
